Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised...

Our friends, Melody and Jerome had a baby boy this evening. They were over last night and Melody was having some contractions. The baby WAS due in July! Well...things got going and they delivered at 10:01pm this evening. The baby is initially doing well enough to not be shipped to a neo-natal intensive care unit in Fort Worth. Pray that will remain the same tomorrow.

His name is Geosue Giovanni. He was 3 lb. 14 oz., 17 inches, and scored a 7&9 on the Apgar test.

Mother is doing well, all things considered.

I'm not complaining...oh, yes I am! I just checked the weather and the temperature is 103!!! Yes, 103. The good news is that our electricity was only out for about 30 minutes this afternoon. We weren't over using the kilowatts...don't know what happened. Maybe TXU is mad that we are switching to Reliant. Ken savve! Oops, sounds like we're at WalMart. Who knows, I mean.

Excellent lunch at the park with Millard & Cindy and Jerome & Melody. Luckily it was only around 100 when we were enjoying our time together. I wish that all of us had more time to spend together...at least the hamburgers were almost cooked :-). Also, we fed most of the population of a bee hive without a single sting.

The Lord reigns, He is clothed with majesty!

Passover Women-Kathy and Melody Posted by Picasa

We did something very meaningful this evening at the request of Melody-a Christian Passover Seder. I was griping internally earlier in the day about how the secularists have taken over all the prominent Christian holidays. I can't for the life of me figure out how a rabbit can lay chicken eggs, painted or otherwise. If all we have for Easter is an egg hunt for the children followed by all of us mimicing - "He is alive!," then we've really missed out on a meaningful holiday.

The Christian passover details how Christ is the fulfillment of the passover in great detail. It includes a meal along with the Lord's supper. A wonderful experience. It gave me a thankful heart instead of one that was just griping about what is wrong.

Praise the Lord that He did for us what we could not do--He died for our sins and then was raised on the third day--that we too might have life everlasting.

He is alive!

AWANA kids Posted by Picasa

Great AWANA program this evening. I am just a figurehead and our secretary, M, does all the real work. We did a Space Race and the kids just loved it. The best event we have ever done IMHO. I am going to post a few pictures so you can get to the heart of the ministry without me actually telling it to you.

Here in Texas we really have a small window of opportunity for growing most cool-weather crops. The forecast is calling for mid to upper 80s (near ninety) for the next ten days. We are picking our lettuce (and giving some away) as well as eating radishes rapidly (don't want to eat "woody" tasting radishes). Onions are going like gangbusters and we had our first brocolli head the other day (extremely small head).

With my oldest out of college, the next one in college, and three more to go, I feel like the window of opportunity to train them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord is shorter than I first thought. No real wisdon here--just live each day to the fullest--serving and seeking (first) after the Kingdom of God.

M&C...if you want some lettuce, radishes, and green oninons just let me know.
